I'm having candy.  So I'd say pizza is downright healthy compared to this lunch/breakfast.  :D

I just had a bowl of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and a banana for breakfast. I always eat better when I'm tracking what I eat. I guess accountability counts for something, huh?

Zeke was up at 6:00 this morning (well, it would've been 7:00 if not for the time change). It figures. The one morning I can actually sleep in because the big kids are gone, he is up early. And I was up way too late (early? 2:00 am) watching The Umbilical Brothers on YouTube (they are the guys that do the Upside Down Show on NickJr).

Bummer about the early morning, Beth.  E got up early too, and of course I forgot about the time change so we were up and showering when I realized it was "only" 7:30.  :(

I saw that link somewhere - might have to go watch it... :D

I think I'd like to try making some mama cloth and nursing pads for myself with PUL or microfleece backing, and also try using FOE to bind the edges of fleece items like sleeves, armholes, necklines, cuffs, etc.  Any thoughts on doing this? I don't have any FOE or PUL yet but it might be the next crafty purchase/foray.  Gotta love crafty ADD.  :P

Morning! Gotta love a free hour of sleep!

Kind of sad here that we didn't get out to Emerald last night. It would have been a lot of fun to see Gabriel out there for the first time but at least this way DH didn't miss it...it's just such a pure place. I could use some of its peace right about now.

SM - did you get to go all medical freak and hand out candy?

Beth - About your DPN adventure last night, all I can think about when I see DPNs is "You're gonna shoot (in this case poke) your eye out!!"

My kids turned in to heathens last night and this morning they're back to normal. I sent them to bed at 7:30 because they were being such behinds...fighting, yelling, running, making a mess in their rooms for the heck of it. They had their room almost cleaned by the time I got up this morning, so I think they got the memo that mama was not happy last night.

Kim: What is Emerald? I know you've said before, but I can't remember . You know, now every time I just my DPNs I'm going to hear "You'll poke your eye out!" Thanks a lot. Sorry the girls were being like that last night. It wasn't a full moon, was it? Glad they got the message though, and straightened up this morning.

SM - my DH commented last cycle how much we'd save if I started using mama cloth. It shocked me that he's become such a little hippie. It's kind of weird since I CD but I dunno if I could bring myself to do that and wouldn't know what to look for if I could...

Emerald Mound is the second largest ceremonial mound in the US. Its builders literally left their crops in the field one day, traveled to its spot, and built this mound and 9 surrounding satellite mounds all on faith that they would be taken care of in doing this task. It's the closest thing my family has to church. It's in the middle of the rural ghetto now, but you can go out any time and not get any trouble. No one messes with the sanctity of that place. I can't explain it but it's always peaceful and a good place to contemplate life. It's where our family feels one with our god.

I haven't had my period for nearly 2 years, but I have used obv wipes as panty liners when I have needed them and liked the feel better than the disposable ones. For postpartum bleeding I'd stick with the heavy duty ones they give you at the hospital until it slows down. I might make myself some mama cloth at that point. I'll see how it goes.

Kim, is that a Native American site?  I read the entire People of the Wolf series, and there are 1 or 2 books about people who built and lived on the mounds.  They are some great historical fiction.  I don't use mama cloth, but don't really use sposie pads either.  But I'm going to need some post-partum stuff, and since I absolutely hated wearing sposie stuff the last two times, I'm considering it.  It does still seem a bit foreign to me though.

Beth, sorry about the early rising.  I wasn't counting on late Halloween doing us any favors w/ daylight savings, but at least G and D woke up after 6:30 (new time).

gps, I've always wanted to live near a Trader Joe's.  My sister lived in Brookline for a year, and I got to go to one near there when I visited her (or was it Whole Foods?).  I never got to do any stock-up shopping though.  There's a decent HFS here, and at least it has good sales.

SM, I got a decent price on a full roll of black FOE from FOEyourdiapers on HC, so I've used it to bind fleece and it works pretty well.  I also used it for some nylon bibs for D.  Sometimes I love working with it, and other times its a PITB, but still very handy.  As for PUL, Kidsinthegarden.com is pretty reputable, and if you join the yahoo coop, you can get a discount on the smaller  quantities from the store.

I just did a marathon haircutting session and am wiped out.  Sometimes it feels like trying to aim at a moving target when you cut LOs hair!  Then, it starts to fall on their skin and they get itchy and cranky.  But, it's done now, all 3 of my guys are looking more clean-cut, and mama didn't make any big errors, phew!  DH loves that I do it, because it's "free".  I may not be good at cleaning the house, but at least I have some other random useful skills.

Christine: I've cut DH's hair since we got married. He still keeps his Marine Corps short, so it's pretty easy. We cut all the kids' hair too. It definitely saves a lot of money. DH has been totally shocked about how expensive haircuts are when he has to pay for one.

Kim: Emerald Mound does look like a very peaceful place (I Googled it ). It's so great that you guys have a place where you can go to relax and refresh. Is that where you guys do your family pictures? How are the girls behaving for you today?

That's so funny that you googled it, Beth. I didn't post the links because the pics have trees on them and I don't know anyone who remembers trees on the mound...not even my uncle who introduced me to the place and carved my staff. Those pics are a little weird to me and almost not the same place? If you've seen the easter pics with Jasmine as a pup, that's where we go for them. It's the only time of the year we go when the sun is out.

It's a NA site, yes. When the LOs get a little older I'm hoping to take a couple of weeks and take them to the various mound systems that are still undisturbed. I missed chances to see a couple when we were travelling construction and I regret it. Unfortunately the history of the place is a bit hit or miss...

My DH has short hair too.  I can do almost all of it w/ the clippers, so it goes pretty fast.  Sometimes the DSs will let me shape their hair a bit, and sometimes they won't.  I think they'll probably get crew cuts every summer though.

Wow!  Slow day after all.  We went to the local mall and (finally) picked up DH's new glasses.  After that we all napped for a while.  Right now I'm using Carrie's trick for cleaning the kitchen.  After the first 15min, the table area is clean and the floor is swept.  In 4 more min., I'm starting the next 15min. and going for the dishes Unhappy.

Hi mamas, rough day full of TMI here.  E is biting nastily and teething badly so I'm changing out gauze pads in my nursing tank every few hours, I've had a feminine um hooha issue and have been using garlic cloves to treat it and while it's working, I've had raw garlic taste in my mouth for two and a half days now.  Same thing happened when I'd "hooch" the disintegrating tablets of Zofran during pregnancy - nasty fake-strawberry med flavor about ten seconds later.  Don't understand why mouths and hoohas have that connection, but I sure wish they didn't.  As a result, I've eaten ridiculous amounts of candy, kimchi dumplings, miso-kale soup, anything and everything to kill the taste.  Barf.

On a happier note, hmmm.  I did the dishes.  Does that count? LOL

LOLOuch  SM!  I can relate to the nasty taste.  I think one of the reasons why I'm so bulky during nursing is that I'm finally free of the nasty taste in my mouth.  I remember being in the hospital just after I'd delivered and feeling like even their nasty food was super delish!  Hope all the issues get solved sooner rather than later.

Second sprint got interrupted by a poopy dipe.  But, I went back, did another 15min., and am on break again.  I really have to force myself to clean one area at a time otherwise I start chasing my tail around the kitchen and not getting anything done.  Next up is emptying the dishwasher, then my final challenge is the cluttered counter from h$ll.  That has all the dirty dishes, but I did get rid of all the dirty kitchen cloth at least.  Yeah, flylady was overwhelming for me too.  IDK if I'll ever have enough discipline to have an orderly house.
